The 2025 European Conference of the Society for Benefit-Cost Analysis (SBCA) welcomes submissions of extended abstracts for individual research papers, as well as proposals for policy sessions and panels. Submissions will be accepted from August 11 to September 11, 2025, and must be made via the

Submissions that do not clearly align with one or more of these thematic areas may not be considered for inclusion.

a. Individual Paper Submissions

Authors are invited to submit extended abstracts (1000–1500 words) that present original theoretical or empirical work relevant to benefit-cost analysis (BCA) or related evaluation tools such as:

  • Cost-effectiveness analysis
  • Cost analysis
  • Risk-benefit analysis
  • Damage assessment
  • Social cost-benefit analysis
  • Regulatory impact analysis

Submission Guidelines

Your abstract must include the following:

  • Title of the paper
  • Name(s) and affiliation(s) of author(s)
  • Research question and objectives
  • Methodology
  • Preliminary or expected results
  • Keywords (optional)

While PDF uploads for individual papers are accepted, we strongly recommend entering the full abstract text directly into the submission form for ease of processing.

Additional Information

  • Abstracts must be clearly aligned with one or more of the conference themes.
  • Authors may submit multiple abstracts, but each participant may present only one paper in the final program.
  • All paper sessions will be held in person; remote presentation is not an available option.

b. Policy Sessions and Panels

We also welcome proposals for policy-oriented sessions and panels that aim to bridge research and practice in the field of BCA. These sessions should explore current policy issues where BCA can play a critical role in decision-making, and should engage a diverse academic, professional, or policymaking audience.

Format

Sessions typically consist of short presentations followed by a panel or roundtable discussion, with 3 to 4 contributors.

Submission Requirements

  • Session or panel title
  • Name(s) and affiliation(s) of the organizer(s), chair(s) and speaker(s)
  • Description of the session’s theme and its relevance to one or more conference themes (300–500 words)
  • Names, affiliations, and short bios (100–150 words) of all contributors
  • Brief statement of each contributor’s planned role or presentation topic

All contributors must be confirmed at the time of submission. Only one submission is required per session.

Conditions

  • Session organizers are expected to attend the conference and moderate their session.
  • Organizers are responsible for managing replacements if needed.
  • All participants (organizers and contributors) must register by September 29, 2025.
  • The conference is unable to provide financial support for policy session or panel contributors.
